SWAYAM is a program launched by the Government of India and is designed to achieve the three principles of education policy such as access, equity and quality. The aim of this effort is to bring the best teaching resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. Swayam wants to bridge the digital divide for students who have so far remained obsolete by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of knowledge economics.
This is done through an indigenous advanced IT platform that offers the facility to host all courses taught in the classroom from ninth grade to postgraduate, anyone can access anytime anywhere. All courses are interactive, prepared by the best teachers in the country and available for free to residents of India. More than 1,000 specially selected faculties and teachers from across the country have participated in creating these courses.
Self-conducted courses will consist of quotations – (1) video lectures, (2) specially prepared text material that can be downloaded / printed, ()) self-assessment tests through quizzes and quizzes, and () an online discussion forum to allay doubts. Steps have been taken to enrich the learning experience using audio-video and multi-media and state-of-the-art pedagogy / technology. To ensure the production and distribution of the best quality materials, seven national coordinators have been appointed: NPTEL for Engineering, UGC for Postgraduate Education, CEC for Postgraduate Education, NCERT and NIOS for School Education, IGNOU for Student Management and I.I. .
The SWAYAM Android app is designed for students to use SWAYAM content anytime, anywhere and anywhere.
