This tool is not a professional device for measuring decibels. It uses a built-in microphone, which was created to capture human voice. This type of microphone is not capable of capturing sounds above -1 90-100 dB.
The maximum value varies depending on the microphone you have. Additionally some devices are equipped with AGC (automatic gain control). This system can additionally disturb accurate sound pressure level measurements.
The gauge shows the calculated value of the sound level with the help of the indicator. The range of measurement from the environment is between 0-140 dB. In addition to the current measurement, the application also displays the minimum and maximum level of sound.
You can clear the minimum and maximum measurements at any time using the “Reset” button.
Additionally the application demonstrates sound power in descriptive ways. Available descriptive word polarity:
10 dB – Breathing
20 dB – Wrestling leaves
30 dB – Whisper
40 dB – quiet library
50 dB – Moderate rainfall
60 dB – General Conversation
70 dB – Vacuum cleaner
80 dB – Food Blender
90 dB – Power equipment
100 dB – motorcycle
110 dB – Rock Concert
120 dB – Chain Saw
130 dB – Jet takeoff (100 m away)
140 dB – shotgun
If you have access to a professional sound pressure level (SPL) measuring device, you can use it to calibrate the application. Check the current DB reading on the scientific measurement device and set the same value using the calibration menu (caligration icon under MAX value) +, – button.
– DB level gauge and presented in descriptive way
– Quick response about word level changes
– Possibility of sorting results according to professional devices.
– Minimum and maximum level of measurement.
