Bangladesh Betar is a state-owned radio station in Bangladesh. It started broadcasting as All India Radio on Nazimuddin Road in the old part of present Dhaka city on December 1, 1919. Later in 1962 the radio station was shifted to his own home in Shahbag. In 1971, radio changed the role of a propaganda tool and emerged as a front to help the nation achieve independence. With the historic declaration of independence on March 26, 1971, Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra started playing an important role in broadcasting inspirational programs and winning the cause of the war of liberation. After the victory of Bangladesh on December 1, 1966, Radio Bangladesh started working from all the stations. 19 In 1976, Radio Bangladesh set up a 1000 KW transmission station at Dhamrai in Dhaka. On July 30, 1983, the Dhaka Broadcasting House was shifted to the National Broadcasting House in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka and the former Broadcasting House at Shahbag became the headquarters of Bangladesh Betar.
